Is there a way to fix these broken documents and recover the missing text without having to do each one separately? They had smaller file sizes and lower word counts, thought I haven't tried to manually determine where in the documents the text is missing from.ĭid I do something wrong to make this happen? Or is this a known bug? Today I noticed that the problem had occurred to many of the other files I'd changed the page length on. I thought some kind of random corruption had occurred. I thought the problem was with only one document. Then the complete document, including the missing text, appeared in the new document. I was able to recover the missing text from this document by creating a new Open Office Writer document and inserting the pre-existing file into it using Insert>File. I was able to determine where in the document some of the text was missing from. I noticed that one of my documents was smaller in size and that the word count had changed. Doing this greatly reduced the number of pages in each document that I did it to and addressed my problem. I noticed that each time I did that the page height defaulted to 118.11" which is ok for my purposes. I set the Height to a large number and clicked on OK. In the Paper Format section I scrolled down the drop down menu to User. I'm not sure of the correct term, but are they perhaps called "page breaks"? Yesterday I wanted to eliminate these spaces between pages. While editing, I found the spaces between pages disruptive. I have a number of long existing text documents.
